The SLC Management Core Fixed Income Plus Strategy (Core Strategy) invests primarily in a diverse portfolio of public fixed income assets – and seeks to achieve total return by providing income while preserving capital over the medium term. The Core Strategy also seeks additional income and return from private fixed income sources, Canadian commercial mortgages, and/or non-Canadian investment-grade public and private fixed income assets.
The Core Strategy intends to achieve exposure to public fixed income securities; and private assets, such as private debt or commercial mortgage debt, by investing in one or more of the SLC Management Private Fixed Income Plus Strategy, SLC Management Long Term Private Fixed Income Plus Strategy and SLC Management Canadian Commercial Mortgage Strategy.
The Core Strategy invests in a wide range of securities available in public fixed income markets, and seeks to achieve positive active returns, optimize the risk/reward trade-off of the portfolio, and support ongoing cash flow management.
Our investment in the private asset investments seeks to incrementally add value through higher yields relative to publicly available fixed income alternatives and potentially stronger credit quality (typically ranking senior in the capital structure with security over assets and customized covenants). Private asset investments typically consist of highly negotiated customized debt financing solutions to address the issuer's unique needs and are, thus, not suited to public market debt financing.
