Sun Life appoints Lay Hoon Tan as CEO, Sun Life Vietnam

HO CHI MINH CITY (6 June 2025) – Sun Life Financial Inc. ("Sun Life") (TSX: SLF) (NYSE: SLF) today announced the appointment of Lay Hoon Tan as CEO, Sun Life Vietnam, subject to regulatory approval.  

In this role, Lay Hoon will be responsible for driving business growth and delivering on Sun Life’s Purpose to help Clients achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives.

Lay Hoon brings more than 30 years of expertise to Sun Life in leadership roles spanning Distribution, Customer Service, Group Benefits & Health, Claims, Product, Marketing, Risk and Operations for multinational insurers in Asia. She was most recently Chief Risk Officer and Head of Distribution Risk Asia for an international life insurance company in Vietnam.

Lay Hoon holds a Bachelor in Business Studies, majoring in Actuarial Science, from Nanyang Technological University. She is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute and an Associate Financial Planner. Lay Hoon will join Sun Life in August 2025. She will be based in Ho Chi Minh City and report to Randy Lianggara, President of Emerging Markets, Sun Life Asia. She will also be a member of the Asia Executive Team.
