Steve Morris is Senior Managing Director and Portfolio Manager, Public Fixed Income, for SLC Management. He works with the client solutions team in developing custom solutions for plan sponsors, seeking to reduce risk and volatility in their defined benefit pension plans.
Steve has an extensive range of investment experience across more than 25 years in Canadian and international markets, spanning asset liability management, pension fund management, portfolio management, international lending, domestic commercial banking and risk management.
Following roles at the Export Development Corporation and Royal Bank of Canada, Steve joined our organization in 1997 and held a variety of investment responsibilities in Canada, the United Kingdom and Asia. These included asset and portfolio management roles, investment governance, investment activities for merger and acquisitions transactions and serving on the company’s pension plan committees.
Between 2011 and 2013, Steve held a senior investment management position at one of Canada’s largest defined benefit pension plans, building up and managing its in-house fixed income and derivatives team as well as assessing other asset class opportunities and conducting selections of third-party fund managers. Following the completion of this project, Steve rejoined SLC Management in 2013.
Steve holds an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Master of Business Administration in International Business from the University of Bath in the United Kingdom. He is a CFA charterholder and member of the Toronto CFA society.
