Managing Director, Head of Corporate Private Placements and Sustainable Investing

Liz Thorne is Managing Director, Head of Corporate Private Placements and Sustainable Investing for SLC Management. In this role, she leads the corporate private placements team, which focuses on financing opportunities for borrowers through a variety of structures, including traditional corporate lending in different industries and more bespoke debt structures. 

Liz has over 20 years of experience in structuring, underwriting and negotiating terms for private, public and bank debt. She joined SLC Management in 2016 as a credit analyst. In addition to her Corporate Private Placements leadership role, Liz is the Private Fixed Income asset class lead for sustainable investing. She serves on the board of Sun Life’s BrightWomen and SLC Fixed Income’s sustainability committee and its sustainable investment council sub-committee. 

Prior to joining SLC Management in 2016, Liz was Director of Debt Management and Special Finance Programs at the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, a role with a broad scope which included debt issuance for a variety of municipal agencies and for environmental and social impact. She also served as the governor’s designee on the MassDevelopment and MassVentures boards of directors. Before that, she was an investment banker focused on mergers & acquisitions advisory and high yield debt and leveraged loan issuance.

Liz earned her Bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College and her Master of Business Administration from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. She also earned a graduate Certificate in Financing and Developing Clean Energy from Yale University in 2020.
